Grant is 2
Happy Birthday Grunt-a-bee! My baby turned 2 and it's a bittersweet day for me. Times goes way too fast. These are his stats from his wellness check up: 24 lbs (15 percentile), 34" (50 percentile) and I don't know what his head measurement was but it's in the 80 percentile! So basically he's still very skinny with a big head :)
We got pregnant with Grant the first time we "tried", which is why he's so close in age to Lincoln. It was a pretty easy pregnancy and I loved being pregnant in the winter, as opposed to the middle of July and August. Because Lincoln was so big, I was afraid that Grant would be big as well so I talked my doctor into inducing me 5 days before my actual due date.

It was a pretty easy pregnancy and I loved being pregnant in the winter, as opposed to the middle of July and August. Because Lincoln was so big, I was afraid that Grant would be big as well so I talked my doctor into inducing me 5 days before my actual due date.
Grant Christopher Gale was born April 23, 2007 at 3:50 pm in Meridian, Idaho. He was 8 lbs and 19 3/4", which is considered big, but to me was tiny. He basically slide out...not a lot of pushing required on my part :) His name was a hard one for us. I heard the name Grant a few months before he was due and liked it enough to consider it. We never found anything else that we liked as much. Then we realized that we would have "presidents" and I really liked that idea. Christopher is the name of Dave's older brother, whom he idealizes. 'Nuff said :)
Grant was a really good baby. Slept well, ate well, didn't do much but hang out and enjoy the scenery. He's always been very happy and cheerful. I had my first scare with him when he was a week old. That morning, after eating, he threw up blood all over. Thankfully my Mom and sister were still in town, so Steph stayed at the house with Lincoln and my Mom drove me and Grant to the ER. Come to find out he was just getting a lot of blood in his milk because he had such a strong "suck". The doctor said that the blood just upset his tummy and that he would be completely fine, it was just blood tinted milk. I, on the other hand, took a few weeks to heal properly.
He has always loved to snuggle and loved to be right in your face. Thisclose. He still likes to snuggle and give big hugs and kisses. He's very affectionate.
He started crawling around 10 months and took his first steps a few weeks after his 1st birthday.
He stopped nursing at 4 months, per his Mother's request, and was done with a bottle a week before he turned one. He still drinks a lot through out the day, usually milk at meals and water otherwise. He does still have his deedees (binkies) and requires two of them to sleep. That is going to be the hard one to break.
He loves his big bruder and does anything Lincoln does. He also does anything to make Lincoln laugh. He loves to be silly and point out when he thinks other things are silly.
He loves to sing. He sings all the time and is getting really good at singing actually words. He does a sweet little dance most of the time as well.
He knows all his basic colors, can count to 10 (with a little help), and sings the ABC's (only mumbling about half of the letters).
He seems to enjoy nursery now, which was not the case in the beginning. He likes to be the big boy to all the "babies" and help take care of them.
He loves chicken nuggets and fries. He's pretty good about at least trying most of things we give him to eat. His other favorites are strawberries, apples, green beans, olives, green salad with ranch, cool whip and toast.
He chipped his front tooth before he was 18 months old, but hasn't broken/chipped anything else since then...knock on wood.
He has a tender heart. If he sees that I'm upset, crying, sad, tired, etc., he'll come right up to my face and say, "What wrong Mommy. Mommy, what wrong?". Then he gives me a big hug with little reassuring back pats. I love it.
He likes to play in water, dirt, throw things down the stairs, and participate in other destructive behavior. He is all boy.
His latest thing is being naked. He loves to be naked and takes his clothes off every chance he can. He's trying to potty train himself and doesn't like when I try to help or even ask if he wants to go on the potty. Yesterday when I went to get him up from his nap, he had pooped in his bed AFTER he took his diaper off. He then had used the turd as molding putty to reconstruct his crib and bedding. Poop was every where! I just about threw up. Dave called in the middle of my clean up and Lincoln answer my phone telling him, "Sorry Daddy, Mommy's cleaning up Grant's poop.
Grant pooped in his bed. Love you bye."
Grant is such a blessing in our lives and I'm thankful that I get to be his Mommy. Enjoy the pictures!

Oh Boy
This is part of our dinner conversation last night:
Lincoln, "I'm not going to call you Daddy and Mommy anymore. I'm going to call you Dave and Mindy."
And that was that.
Later that night when I was tucking him in he said, "Good night Mindy."

Bless My Beautiful Hide...
Dave has decided to do the summer musical again. I guess it's not the whole summer, just 10 weeks starting next Monday. 10 weeks of a fun creative outlet for him...10 weeks of pretty much hell for me :) I must say, though, how extremely proud I am of him. The show is 7 Brides for 7 Brothers and he will be playing the part of Adam (for those of you not familiar with the show, it's the lead)! Dave will do an amazing job and I'm very excited for him. Any of you who would like to see him in all his glory, please feel free to come up, we'd love to have you (and use our guest room if you'd like). I promise you won't be disappointed :) Performances run from June 16-July 3 (every night except Sunday and Mondays). CONGRATULATIONS SWEETS!

The Hunt
The boys got to do a couple egg hunts this year. The first one was Saturday morning at one of the city parks. It wasn't as cold as last year (thank goodness) and Lincoln really got into it. It was awesome. He did the hunt all by himself. Grant had some help from Dave, but even he understood after a few seconds of collecting candy.

The next hunt was in our neighborhood. It was raining a little bit, so there were only about 15 kids and over 300 eggs hidden. The boys made out like bandits. The Easter Bunny came to our house Saturday night, hide eggs and baskets and left a trail of nibbled on carrots up the stairs to the boys' rooms. When we told Lincoln that the Easter Bunny had came and left carrots his reply was, "I don't want carrots! I want a present!" Fortunately he wasn't so spoiled/annoyed when he actually found his basket. He just sat on the floor by it and I told him he could go through it and see what was inside, to which he responded, "No Mom. I can't open it 'til I tell the Easter Bunny thank you." I told him we'd write the silly bunny a thank you card.

The rest of Easter was very non-Easter-ish. The boys went to my parents, for yet another hunt and basket find, while Dave and I headed out to SLC to watch Wicked and then have dinner at Ruth's Chris in Park City. We got the Wicked tickets for Christmas from my parents and when my Mom bought them she didn't realize they were for Easter Sunday. We didn't mind and the show was AMAZING! It was a great date. Thanks Mom and Dad :)

Dave and I decided to start a new tradition this year (well I guess we'll see if we do it again to actually make it a tradition). We're going to try to have a conference camp out the Friday night before conference starts. Since it was way to cold to camp outside, we set the tent up in the basement (and by we, I mean Dave) and then snuggled up in sleeping bags with treats and watched the Lion King. The boys lasted about 20 minutes. We had all intentions of sleeping in the tent, but like I said, the boys didn't last long. So we ended up going upstairs and putting them to bed in their respective beds. Maybe in the fall we'll try camping outside. Maybe they'll last longer than 20 minutes.

Lil' Chefs
The boys love to bake. Love it. Lincoln actually loves to do anything in the kitchen that involves making food. Here are some pics of them helping me make banana bread.
