The Big 5

Link turned 5 a few weeks ago. He had his first "friend" party and went with a Mario Bros theme. Grammy and Papa were kind enough to let us use their yard, but it ended up raining, so we did a last minute switch to the garage. The party turned out great and Link had such a good time. Our friend, Jay Haslem, made the birthday cake and it turned out AWESOME! Link was so excited about it. Thanks Jay! Here are some random tidbits about our first born:

*He LOVES all things electronic (just like his Daddy). Computers, ipads, nintendo ds, wii, cell phones, etc. He's getting extremely good at playing most of the games and figuring out how things work within a specific system.

*He is extremely friendly/loving. He gives out big hugs freely (even to those whom he doesn't know) and has no problem talking to new people/making friends. He loves to be a social butterfly. If you look like you're a grandparent, he'll sit on your lap and call you grandma/pa.

*He still loves music and loves to sing. His favorites right now are Ghostbusters, Sexyback, Santa Claus is Coming to Town, Battlefield, and Follow the Prophet.

*He can and will negotiate EVERYTHING and makes a valid point most of the time.

*He's obsessed with "pets". Stuffed animals are his passion right now and he carries around a baby turtle and Perry the Platypus everywhere he goes. We had to limit the amount of animals that were allowed out at any given time, because the house had 5-6 in each room every day.

*He's a great big brother and is very excited to help take care of his baby sister, whom he's named Ashley. He loves Grunt and the two of them are best friends (90% of the time).

We are so blessed and thankful to have this solid stud muffin in our family. His sweet smile lights up the room and we love him with all our hearts. Happy Birthday Link!

1st Day of Freedom

The boys both started school on Tuesday. Linc misses the kindergarten deadline by about a week, so they both go to the same preschool he went to last year. Grunt was so excited to finally be able to join his brother in school. Daddy gave them both a father's blessing before their first day and it was very sweet. Only time I teared up all day! Grunt's was cut a little short. 90 seconds into it, he got his Daddy in a death grip hug around the waist and started to play fight with him a little :) I let them pick out their shirts for the first day and they both went with a Hawaiian theme. I helped a little more on the second day.
They've only been 1 week, but both already love it. Grunt has the same teachers that Linc had last year, so I'm very interested to hear what they have to say about the difference between the two :) I'm so excited that they get to have this opportunity to learn and be independent and grow into their own little people. And, let's be honest, to have a few hours of alone time every week is pretty nice...well, for at least another 9 weeks or so!

Oh how I love these boys and their Daddy.
