Last Day of School

The boys had their last day of preschool last month. They had a big end of the year party with games, blowup slide and prizes. Grant will have one more year of preschool, but this was Lincoln's last year because he'll be in kindergarten this fall! They loved going to school together and have loved all their teachers.

SLC Weekend

Last month we had a nice little SLC weekend with my family. Steph and Shawn stayed home with Isaac, I think he was only 2 weeks old, but their other boys came with my parents. We all stayed at The Grand and went to our first Bee's game. We rode trax to the game and then afterwards there was an incredible firework show. The boys loved it! We had such a great time and it was so nice to hang out as a family all weekend. Thanks again Dad and Mom!

Lucy Anne

Dear Lucy, aka Lulu/Louie/Lucylicious,
You are now 7 months old and getting prettier by the day, if that's at all possible. I never realized how much I wanted/needed you, until you arrived. We knew we wanted another baby. In fact we tried for a year and a half with no success. And then I became pregnant with you. When people would find out we were having a girl, they would ask me if I was excited and tell me how great it was that I was getting a girl. I didn't disagree, but at the time I kept thinking that I would've been just as happy and excited if you were a boy. Now that you're finally here, I have found out just how much my heart had been aching for a little girl. And not to be selfish or self centered, but I wanted so badly for you to look like me. I wanted people to look at you and say how much you look like your Mommy. And you do. A lot. However, you are already far more beautiful then me and have your Daddy's big beautiful brown eyes. You really are stunning. You are still our chubbly wubbly and are wearing 9-12 month clothes. The rolls on your thighs, elbows, kneecaps, and chin are impossible not to nibble on. You definitely do not lack in the physical affection department. You constantly have someone giving you kisses, nibbles, hugs, squeezes, etc. You are such a happy baby with a good nature. You've gotten sick a few times in your 7 months, but I guess that comes with being born right in the middle of flu season. Even when you're sick though, you're generally very happy and silly. You are an incredible sleeper. You usually sleep a continuous 12 hours at night and also take two naps a day that are 2-3 hours each. You like to sleep in your crib, but don't have a problem falling asleep in Mommy's arms or occasionally Daddy's lap. You don't really cry much. And when you do, it's not very loud. You have very distinctive hungry, tired, hurt, angry, and iwantmommy cries. The IWANTMOMMY cry is my favorite. Not because you want me, but because it is so dramatic. It's the cry that people think is your hurt cry. It makes me laugh because it's almost always accompanied by this face:
You are a Mommy's girl. Big time. It's getting a little bit worse the older you get. Your pediatrician says that is to be expected. That you'll go through a "stranger danger" phase. Your brother's never did, but you seem to be starting it. Even your usual favorites, like Daddy and Grandma, can't compete with Mommy. I admit, I still love it. I love how much you need me and want to be around me. Your two bottom middle teeth have come up and I think you're getting more. I'm not sure where they're coming in, but I think it's the top middle one(s). I can't see them yet, but you're acting like you did right before your bottom teeth broke through. You seem to be munching on things more than usual. You've gotten very good at holding your own bottle. Usually the only time I have you do this is in the morning when I'm trying to also get your brother's breakfast on the table. You love real food and want to eat anything I'm eating. You eat three solid meals a day and for your last meal of the day, you usually eat three jars of baby food. You've gotten good at "chewing" so you've also started eating cherrios, fruit loops, muffins, breads, and a variety of baby pick up foods. Your hair is getting quite long. You get all kinds of different hairstyles and don't mind any of them. You're very good at letting me do your hair and paint your toes. You love your brothers. You light up whenever they come in the room. You love when they interact with you and they love to make you laugh. You are completely adored by everyone you come in contact with, but especially your Daddy, Grammy, Papa, Aunt Stephie and Ky. You always give Aunt Stephie a big smile. Ky loves to see what you're wearing. He loves loves loves all your shoes and notices every time you have a new paint color on your toes. He also loves all your accessories: bracelets, bows, earrings, etc and notices when you have those on as well.
You got your ears pierced last week. I was nervous to do it because I didn't want to cause you any pain. However, you held extremely still and kind of fussed for literally 7 seconds. You didn't even really cry. I think it was less traumatic then when you get your immunizations. The earrings look so dang cute and I'm glad that you have them now, before you realize they are even there. You like to squeal. LOUDLY. It's kind of like your way of talking. You used to do it mainly in the car. Now it's gotten to where you do it all the time. Sacrament meeting, during dinner, watching tv, playing with your toys, etc. You've gotten really loud the past few days and the pitch of the scream keeps getting higher. You really do sound like a firework. Sometimes it sounds like the air being let out of a balloon. I still find it very funny and laugh every time you do it. Your brother's usually find it amusing as well, but today Grant told me that you're starting to hurt his ears :) You are my little princess. You've brought so much happiness into our family. You are without a doubt spoiled, but not yet rotten. You are already growing up too fast, but each new stage has been so much fun. We are so thankful that you came to our family and we love you the most beautiful girl!

Grant Christopher

Dear Grant, aka Bean- Gruntabee- Naughty,
You are now 4 years old and just finished up your first year of preschool. You had the same teachers, Miss Rayma & Miss Misti, that Lincoln had last year. On your first parent teacher conference (2 months into the school year), the first thing they commented on was how different you and Lincoln are. The next thing they said was that you always have a smile on your face and love to help out the other kids. You love school. You claimed your girlfriend was Cami (right hand side of the picture) and you helped her out around class all the time. You know your abc's, can count to 20, know all your colors & shapes, and recognize your name when it's written down. You have a speech impediment that seems to get a little stronger the older you get. Sometimes you get frustrated with us when we don't know what you're saying, but I've gotten pretty good at speaking "Bean".

You are my silly boy. My very silly boy. You have a natural goofiness and love to make people laugh. You have the funniest facial expressions and I often catch you making them at yourself in the mirror. I find myself saying, often, that if you weren't so damn funny you would be in constant timeout.

While you play very well with other kids, you also really enjoy being alone. You are perfectly content to play by yourself with only your imagination and thoughts to keep you company. I'd love to hear what goes on inside that head of yours sometimes. Just the other day, you played outside in the sandbox for about an hour, alone, while your siblings played inside together. I'm pretty sure you get that from your Daddy/Grammy G :)Another example. One of the days it was raining, you put on your swim goggles and went in the front yard to jump in the puddles. Your brother eventually joined you, but you were completely happy being alone and making yourself laugh.

Some of your favorite things right now:

IPAD/WII-

You've gotten crazy good at video games. You love to play your ipad and your favorite games right now are Max & the Magic Marker, Angry Birds, Contraptions, Cut the Rope, and Fruit Ninja. On the Wii you LOVE Yarn Kirby. You've been able to beat the entire game, by yourself, and even asked for a yarn kirby birthday cake this year.

THE TRAMPOLINE-

We finally broke down and let the Easter Bunny bring a trampoline to our house because of how much you love the one at Grammy & Papa's house. We've only had ours up for about 2 months, but already it's gotten a ton of use from you.

FOODS-

Your favorite thing the eat right now is PB&J's. Next would be banana bread. You also love chicken nuggets, meat sticks, grilled cheese sandwich, green salad with ranch, broccoli, bananas, strawberries, grapes, apples, frosted mini wheats, ice cream sandwiches, and french fries. You're still not a big fan of mac-n-cheese or any kind of bean (other than green). You're usually pretty good about trying everything on your plate though.

TV-

Your favorite tv shows right now are Bubble Guppies, Jake & the Neverland Pirates, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, and Phineas & Ferb. You love the movies Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, Despicable Me, Wall-E, Cars, and Beauty & the Beast.

FRIENDS-

You love your big brother. You look up to him so much and, for the most part, do whatever he says. You don't mind letting him be in charge and boss you around. He is your best friend. You also have a special relationship with Jace. While you don't mind letting Lincoln boss you around, you definitely like playing with kids that are smaller than you. You don't really boss Jace around, but I think you enjoy the fact that you're the "big boy" of the two of you. We call you two the naughty twins. You two are ALWAYS doing something mischievous. You egg each other on and if you're left alone for longer than 2 minutes, it's almost guaranteed you're into something you shouldn't be.

BABIES-

Going along with the whole "smallerthanyou" thing, you love love love babies. You've gotten more aware of them since your sister's been born. Anytime we go anywhere and you see a baby, or basically any child under the age of 3, you have to go over and say hello and try to get them to smile at you. You're very sweet and loving about it.

We call you Bean because you are my little string/vanilla bean. You seem like such a tiny little guy. At your 4 year wellness check you were in the 50% for height and 30% for weight. You've gotten quite tall the past few months and have almost out grown size 4T pants in length. I still have to cinch the waist of them as tight as they will go and even then they barely stay on your tiny bum. You have a really long torso and almost need a 5T shirt for length, even though the 3T's fit you best around the chest/belly. As far as the vanilla goes, you somehow got a combo of your Daddy's skin and mine. You are a vanilla in the winter months, but tan very easily in the summer.

You love Lucy. Sometimes a little too much. We compare it to a crack addict who needs a hit. Seriously, it's like you have to nibble and kiss and hug and touch and just be in her face or else you won't be able to function. Even after being told time and time again to "back off", within 2 seconds it's like you've forgotten I've even said anything and are right back to her. I will say, however, that she loves you very much and doesn't seem to mind. for the most part. I was worried about how you would react when you were no longer the baby. Other than getting a little reclusive for a month at school, you didn't have any issues. And let's not forget, you are still my baby boy. You are so stinkin' cute. You have a smile that is very deceiving, in that it is the most innocent smile I've ever seen. You flash those pearly whites, your beautiful eyes light up and that's usually all it takes to get you out of whatever trouble you've gotten yourself into. You are definitely going to be a heart breaker. You still have your "lucky fin" and I hope that you always do. I find it adorable.
You have a need to make people happy and laugh. I say you're my little Jim Carrey. Your Daddy and I are so thankful that we get to be the ones to watch you grow. You're such a sweetheart and we love you the most.
