My Athlete- part 1

Dave played 6 on 6 co-ed volleyball again this year.  He's really enjoyed being able to play at least once a year on an actual team and has gotten really good.  I love watching him play and am so proud of how well he does.  My Uncle Scott was on his team this year and it's so fun that they enjoy the same sport.  Their team ended up taking 2nd place (the only reason they didn't get 1st was because they had played 6 games in a row and were exhausted by the final game).  Great job team SDP!

F-I-V-E!

My baby boy is now FIVE?!  That seems like such a milestone to me.  Five.  Maybe it's because he's still so skinny and tiny that he doesn't seem that old.  Or maybe I'm just in denial.
He had his first "friends" birthday party on Saturday at Grammy and Papa's house (a separate post on that coming soon).  On his actual birthday he had his favorite breakfast, sugar pancakes complete with a candle to blow out and the birthday song, another candle and song in his dinner and then swimming at the rec center.  He got to take birthday treats to his speech class on Friday and then again to his regular preschool class today (Tuesday).  So it's been 5 full day of birthday-ness for this boy!

Some of the things Grant is doing/into right now:
*Video Games.  He LOVES video games.  Wii, x-box, DS, ipad, you name it, he loves it.  His favorite game is Sonic Generations on the x-box.  

*Hilarious.  The boy is funny.  He makes the best facial expressions and is just silly.  You can usually catch him in the mirror laughing at/perfecting his facial expressions.

*Dance.  He loves to play Just Dance 3 on the wii and is pretty good at it. One of his favorite moves is still "the bum bum dance".  He's so much fun to watch.

*Smart.  He's doing wonderful in preschool and is very excited to start kindergarten in the fall.  He knows all his abc's and their sounds, can count to twenty (and I've even heard him go to 100 once), is already doing addition (thanks to being constantly quizzed by his older brother), and is getting better at writing all his letters and numbers.  He has an incredibly memory and can usually recite stuff from movies/games/songs after only hearing them once.  

*Big Brother.  He's really enjoyed being a big brother to Lucy and is getting much better and just loving her instead of loving ON her.  He loves to make her laugh and is good about keeping her entertained if needs be.

*Pets, aka, stuffed animals.  You and your brother are both still obsessed with stuffed animals.  Your favorites are all your Angry Birds and you play with them every day.  

* Mischievous.  You are a ninja and always into stuff (most of it stuff you shouldn't be into).  You can be so quiet and sneaky and troublesome all at once.  You are constantly keeping us on our toes and alert.  It's a good thing you're so stinkin' funny and cute :)

*Loving.  You still love to snuggle and usually don't hesitate to give a big hug or snuggle or kiss or anything I ask for.  You're very affectionate and I love that about you.

You are my Grunt-a-bee, Bean, Beanie Weenie, and sweet little Buddy.  We are so thankful that you are in our family to keep us laughing and alert.  We love you the most.  Happy Birthday Baby Boy!

Holiday's have been pretty low key so far this year.  Well, low key compared to what I usually do/decorate for the kids, but I did managed to do a few things. 
For Valentine's Day the boys both had parties at school, Dave brought all the kids home their own box of chocolates and we had family candle light dinner.

For St. Patrick's day, the boys set up a trap for the leprechauns complete with fake gold they had made.  But this year the leprechaun left them a bunch of clues they had to follow in order to find the "pot o' gold".  They thought it was pretty cool.

Turks and Caicos 2012

For the Meier Family vacation this year, my parents were kind enough to take all 15 of us to Turks and Caicos.  Where is that you ask?  It's by the Bahamas, but in my opinion, far prettier than any Bahamian island I had ever seen.  I have a million pictures and just as many stories to match, but I'm going to do the fast recap for blogging purposes.  If you want to hear all the details, gimmie a call.  We'll chat.
