V Day

We had an awesome vday yesterday. The boys slept at my parents house Friday night, so Dave and I actually got to sleep in. Those who have toddlers know that sleeping in can make a perfect day, in and of itself. :) We got up late, made one another breakfast and just enjoyed being alone. Then we went and rescued my parents from the boys and brought the rugrats home for naps. While they napped, Dave and I snuggled on the couch and caught up on our shows. After the boys woke up we all went to Walmart to get stuff for dinner today and for Dave to make vday desserts. When we got home, Grammy and Papa had left the boys a vday gift on the front porch. Dave went and rang the door bell a bunch of times and then came in the back door before the boys answered. When they did answer, Link was confused why there wasn't anyone there, until he saw his gift. We brought it in the house and I let both of them open it. They were so excited! Then they opened their vday card from The Greats. Thank you Grandpa and Grandma! Dave and I decided to only do cards this year, no gifts. I told him no flowers and that I was serious, not doing girl code or anything. We're going on vacation next month and I'd rather use the money on that. Instead of buying me a generic card, Dave made me 3 on the computer and a valentine from each boy. They were very cute and very Dave. After we put the boys to bed, our friends Garrett and Zinna Eaton came over and we had Dave's 2 different but very delicious desserts (carmel brownie and lemon berry parfaits) and played some games. It was such a great day. Happy vday everyone!

Warm Weather

We took the boys to Mesa this past weekend to visit Grammy G and family. We flew in Friday late afternoon, but by the time we got luggage and our rental car it was basically Friday night (that's a whole other story). After we got all our stuff, we went over to Grammy G's for dinner with all the family...aunts, uncles, cousins, etc. It was great to see everyone again. We haven't been down for 3 years. Rana (Dave's grandma) was in good spirits and actually remembered Dave. She's not doing so well and hardly remembers anyone. Before we left she asked Dave to give a family prayer. When he was done praying she said, "For those of you who don't know, this is my grandson David. He's the queen of the family." I honestly thought I was going to pee my pants laughing. I couldn't tell if he should be flattered or insulted by the comment :)
Saturday we took Lincoln over to Grammy G's house to play and go with her to get his cousin Amy. Grant fell asleep in the car, so he stayed with us while we drove around. We took the kids to a park in Gilbert that was so cute. It had the typical playground area, but it also had a bunch of different areas to feed ducks and a circus-ish area. It had a train that went around the entire park, a merry-go-round, ferris wheel, and little jet ski boat things. The kids loved it! That night Grammy G and Aunt Shaunna took the boys while Dave and I went to The Lion King at ASU. Grammy got us tickets for Christmas and it was awesome. The costumes were incredible. We had a really great time just the two of us and it was nice to get a little dressed up. Thanks Grammy G and Aunt Shaunna!
Sunday morning we went over to the house for breakfast. Lincoln helped Grammy G make fresh squeezed oj and he thought it was the coolest thing in the world. The boys also rode bikes outside some more (they did this all weekend). I think being trapped in the house all winter is catching up to them. They loved that they could play outside again. All in all we had a wonderful weekend and it was so nice to visit with family that we don't get to visit with all that much. We love you guys!

Weekend Away

We went out to Salt Lake this past weekend and played a little.
Friday night was Aunt Cathy's 50th bday party. Dave dropped me off at the restaurant, where the party was being held, and he took the boys up to the cabin and put them to bed. We didn't get to the restaurant until 8:30 so the boys were ready for bed and my parents let me hitch a ride with them afterwards.
Then on Saturday Dave went snowboarding with Skeet while Mom, the boys and I went down to Playhouse Disney Live. The boys loved it. Lincoln a little more than Grant. My Mom was dying though...she thought it was LAME. Which it was, but when you watch it every morning I guess you become immune to the lameness. My only complaint, other than starting it right in the middle of nap time, was 40 minutes into the show they did a 20 minute intermission and then came back to finish the last 15 minutes of the show. Just finish the freakin' show already. Grant was done 5 minutes into intermission. That night Dave and I took the boys over to Solitude to get ice-cream cones. That is such a cute little resort. Lincoln kept telling me how it had been such a great day, which made it all worth it.
On Sunday we relaxed and watch the Superbowl and then drove home afterwards. It was pretty late, but Dave was a trooper and made the drive just fine. It probably helped that he got to take a nap in the middle of the day :) Thanks honey for driving us home safely.
