WWF

This handsome devil is trying his skinny little hands at wrestling. We didn't actually sign him up, but the coach is kind enough to allow him to come do a few practices to see if Grant likes it enough to sign up next year. Grammy bought him a singlet so he could be in the proper gear. Singlets on big boys? Slightly gross and disturbing. Singlet on my skinny bean? Absolutely adorable!
step 1: learn the stance.

step 2: learn to duck walk.

step 3: learn first official take down move.

step 4: take down your opponent using that move.
(or in this case be taken down)
step 5: try to convince your opponent to do the "pull your head to the side" move that your grandpa taught you, instead of the move that keeps getting you knocked on your can.

After being taken down 4 times, Grant came over to me and announced, "I don't wanna be thrown down anymore." He watched for a bit, participated in one more move they learned, and then called it a night. We're having him go one more time to see if he wants to continue or just play fight with Daddy instead :)

This is so going to be a great blackmail picture when he's 16.

Girl's Slumber Party

We had a very interesting weekend. Lucy had gotten 2 of the colds that have been passed amongst our little family, but on Saturday it seemed to have moved to her throat. I took her into the urgent care that day, and the doctor said her lungs sounded clear, throat looked good and so did her ears. She wasn't running a fever, so it was suggested that I keep a humidifier on her and use a bulb thingy to suck out her nose.

At around 7 pm that night her cough seemed to be getting a little worse and she started to sound a little raspy. I had her alternate sleeping with me and Dave in our bed and sleeping in her swing (which was right next to my bed). At 5 am I went to move her from laying with me to her swing, when I noticed her cry was more like a high pitched wheeze. I watched her for about 2 minutes and realized she was having a very difficult time getting air. I took her into the ER and the nurse immediately started her on this vaporizer tube.(vaporizer and IV arm)After a shot in each leg, oral meds (I can't remember what it was), a tylenol enema (her temperature was now 102), chest x-rays, a heel prick for blood work, and an IV, it was determined that she had a really bad case of croup. Luckily the influenza and RSV test came back negative. I didn't realize how close we came to being in serious trouble, but later found out that the ER doctor almost had to give her a tracheotomy. Dave had stayed home with the boys, but my Mom met me at the ER and I am so thankful that I had her there to help.

The ER doctor and nurses (who were amazing by the way) got her stable and breathing much better and sent us to our hospital room where we stayed for the next 24 hours so they could monitor Lucy. The sweet baby ended up sleeping off and on in my arms for most of the day. She would get up to eat, poop and be back asleep within 10 minutes. When she was awake, she was giving everyone who was in the room big smiles and trying to coo. Talk about a trooper!
Besides having the IV in most of the day, she also had to have her oxygen levels monitored. The nurse couldn't get the oxygen monitor to stay on Lucy's toe, so she had to put it on her finger, thus wrapping up Lucy's other arm. She looked like she had a cast on each arm. It did give her this cool E.T. thing when it got dark though.

It was suggested to us that we stay the night in hospital because croup usual got worse at night. Lucy and I had been pretty much alone all day anyway (Dave had to go to SLC and left in the early afternoon and didn't get back until 11:30 pm and my parents had taken the boys for the day/night) and I didn't want to be home alone with her in case something did happen, so we stayed. Thankfully, not only did she not get worse, but she actually got a lot better through out the night. Her cough wasn't the loud "seal bark" anymore and her strider (wheezing sound when she breathes and coos) was gone completely.

It was a very long, emotional and stressful 24 hours, but we are so thankful and grateful that our little princess is feeling better again. Thank you everyone for your prayers and well wishes and thank you Mom and Dad for taking care of the boys.

3 Months

Miss Lucy Anne turned 3 months last weekend. I can't believe she's already this old. She's still incredibly happy and is laughing more and more now. As long as her Mommy is near.
She has this Mommy thing. She usually wants her Mommy to hold/feed/talk/entertain/snuggle her. This is the only way she would let Dave hold her one night.

And this is what she usually does when she realizes Grandpa is holding her. It's breaking poor Grandpa's heart! Hopefully she will be out of the phase soon.
The girl is strong. I know I've said that before, but seriously, she's incredibly strong for her age. She loves to be either sitting up or standing. All the time. She doesn't really like to just lay down for very long.
I adore her crying face. It looks like she's making an awful lot of noise, but nope. Her cry is actually pretty quite. Unless she gets SUPER mad. Then it gets slightly louder. But even then it's at the same decibel level as Dave's story telling voice.

Helping Mommy make dinner. This was a few weeks ago when she didn't mind being on her back. Now she sits in her high chair. I'll post pics of that in the next post.

She LOVES her fingers. I tried and tried to get her to keep them out of her mouth. It was like trying to keep Grant from picking his nose...impossible. Luckily she doesn't have a certain finger(s) that she loves. If it's fleshy and at the end of her arm, she's good to go. I'm hoping it's just a quick phase and we won't have to break her of a sucking her thumb habit later.I try to keep her plugged with the nuk when her flesh urges come on.
She hasn't lost her hair, but it did thin out a little. She has a lot of natural curl which can get crazy. It's a good thing her Mommy LOVES doing hair.
It can also be styled straight. I bought Lucy her first curling iron (yes, I curl her hair sometimes with a curling iron) to flip out her sides. They have gotten really long and I'm not ready to give her a haircut yet. (I love this picture of her).

She's been drooling like crazy lately. I think she might be getting teeth already. I can't prove that, it's just my theory.
This girl is getting chubbly! She has these awesome squishy thunder thighs. I love it. I also love her gut and chubbly cheeks. She's so much fun to nibble on.
Last, but not least, she has a super cool color spot in her right eye. It's really dark brown and I hope it stays. I think her eyes will be brown, but whether they go hazel like Grant (and mine) or root beer colored like Lincoln (and Daves') is yet to be determined.

Harry and Lloyd

I know all my posts seem to be about Lucy...that's because they are. I do, however, take pictures of these rascals every once in a while as well.
Lincoln is obsessed with his ipad. In all honesty, so am I. They get a lot of use at our house.

This is what Grant wanted to wear on the drive to SLC. Instead I talked him into wearing it around the house all day and taking it off for the actual car ride. He definitely has a future on Project Runway.
The weekend of Lucy's blessing my parents had a full house of kids (more than their usual 6). For entertainment, my Dad gave all of them "whip shots" from a can of whipping cream. A lot of whip shots. Here's Grant getting his. I'm pretty sure this one ended up in his eye instead of his mouth.

My sweet little cousins made Lucy this poster. While we were taking a bazillion family pictures (blessing weekend again), Lincoln stood behind the camera and held it up so everyone would have a reference point of where to look. In case that whole "look at the camera while your picture is being taken" thing got confusing for anyone. What a good little assistant.

Grant found the BSU potato hats Dave and I got at the Vegas bowl. You remember, the game where they embarrased the Utes (had to throw that in there for those poor Ute fans who have no taste). He is such a funny kid.

2 Months

Lucy's 2 month stats:

weight: 11.4 lbs

height: 23 inches

She's in the 70% and above category for everything, just like Lincoln was. She's smiling and cooing a lot right now. She's trying to roll over and is incredibly strong for her age. She has a million different facial expressions and loves to be sung to. She's become a bit of a Mommy's girl (which neither of the boys were) and loves her swing. She's generally a very happy baby, but when she does get upset, watch out! She stays upset until she feels like you've been punished enough for letting her get upset...typical girl :)

"seriously mom, ANOTHER picture?!"

ipad time with daddy

dave's nickname in college was Quasimodo (that story is a whole 'nother post)
like father like daughter :)
