Busy Weekend

We went to SLC this past weekend and stayed very busy. We stayed up at the cabin and the Woods stayed with us. Friday night Jared and Kelly Dearth drove up and we stayed up until 2 am playing cards and visiting. I don't think Dave or I have stayed up that late since before Lincoln was born. At least not on purpose :) We had a great time and it was really good to visit with some lifelong friends.

*the view from guardsman's pass heading to the cabin*Saturday we took the kids to an indoor bouncy slide place called Jumping Jacks. Lincoln LOVED it! Grant thought it was cool, but he was more interested in the cheap little rides then the actual slides. The Woods came with us and even all the adults got in on the action.

We then took our boys over to Guy and Amy's house (my uncle and aunt), so they could take a nap while Dave and I went to a temple sealing. Dave's old roommate, Jacob Hiatt-aka-Skeet, FINALLY got married :) This was the whole reason we went to SLC in the first place. The sealing was in the new Draper Temple and it was absolutely stunning. Everything about it was incredible. It's been a while since I've been to a sealing and I'm so grateful that Dave and I are sealed together for time and all eternity. It was a wonderful experience and we're so happy for Skeet and Melanie. Congratulations you two!

After the sealing, we drove back to West Jordan to save the Mackay's from the masters of disasters. Dave was completely beat from a late night/early morning, so he snuck down to the basement for a little shut eye while I visited with Amy and the girls. When sleeping beauty woke up, we drove back to Lindon where the wedding reception was located (in the backyard of Skeet's aunt/uncle's house). I had never met Melanie until I was giving her a hug in the temple, but I must say, the girl has GREAT taste. The reception was beautiful. All the little touches and food and flowers and her dress were all perfect. I'm excited to get to know her better.

We didn't stay at the reception long, for fear that the boys would destroy everything, so instead we took them to The Mayan for a 8:30 dinner. For those of you who don't know, Dave and I use to work at the Mayan together. It's been a few years since we've been in and they've changed everything around. The boys loved the dive show and just the ambiance of the whole place. I think they really thought we were eating in the jungle. It was a perfect ending to a perfect day.

Wind

We are finally getting our spring here in Vernal. Last week when the wind was blowing pretty good, Lincoln reminded me that we still haven't flown his kite. From last year. The kid is like an elephant some times.

I got out the kite, but let Dave do the honors and play with the boys for a bit while I cleaned. I tried to get pants on Grant, but as you can see, didn't have much luck. I really hope our neighbors don't mind that our boys are usually neeked.

The Gorge

We finally made it up to Flaming Gorge. My parents took us out on their boat last weekend and we had a great time. Lincoln really wanted to fish. Papa would cast out the line and then hand it over to Link to do the rest. My Dad said that Link looked like he was having a hard time, so he looked down in the water and there was a fish on the hook! Lincoln reeled it in all my himself.The proud fisherman wouldn't get any where near his catch. Like Mother like Son :)He did, however, give me an awesome wink!

The boys talked me and Dave into taking them swimming. The water was FREEZING. I really didn't think the boys would want to swim once they felt how cold it was. I was wrong. They loved every minute of it. Once your body was completely numb and hypothermia started to set in, it really wasn't that bad.

H2O

The boys have a water obsession. They love to play with the sprinkler in the backyard. I took these pictures at 9am last week. It wasn't even hot outside yet, but they wanted to get wet. (It was warm enough for Grant to be outside with no clothes on though...I'm not that bad of a parent) :) We've also been to the splash park a few times. The park itself is pretty lame, but the boys have a good time and it's never busy so the usually have most of the park to themselves. Hooray for summer!

July 1st-4th

We've had a very busy July so far. I know, I know, it's only the 6th, but the past 6 days have been packed.

The 1st was mine and Dave's 6th wedding anniversary. Happy late Anniversary Sweets! My Mom was nice enough to come watch the boys so we could go to dinner. Then I took my achievement day girls to see his play, which they loved.

Dave's Mom, Linda, came up to Vernal on the 2nd and we (the boys and I) passed her on our way to SLC. Linda got to spend some quality time with her son by going to dinner and then watching his show. I took the boys to my grandparents 50th wedding anniversary surprise party. We had a great time and I think my grandparents were happy with the turn out. Not surprised, from what I'm told a few of their friends let the secret slip, but happy non the less. Thanks Uncle Austin for all your help. How cute are my Mom and Dad?!

On the 3rd we arrived back in Vernal for lunch and a treasure hunt. While we were gone some pirates snuck in the backyard and buried some treasure in the sandbox. The boys loved it. That night Linda and I took the boys to see Dave's show. It's the first time the boys have seen it all the way through. I don't think they really get what's going on yet. Maybe next year. At one point Lincoln was watching from the front railing right where Dave was singing and started to yell, "Daddy. Hey Dad. Daddy look." Dave said he almost forgot his lines and what he was singing. Almost :)

For the 4th we went to the parade in the morning. It's a typical small town parade, but the boys had fun and I think Linda did as well. Dave didn't get to sit with us because he was commentating (is that even the correct word?) over at V-TV. He said he had a great time doing it. Later that night we went to my parents for a BBQ and pool party. They did a great job, as usual, and made some great grub. After dinner we went to the park for fireworks. The boys loved them and we had perfect weather. They didn't, however, really enjoy the fireworks in my parents driveway!

I'm so grateful that Linda could come up to see Dave in all his glory. We sure wish she was closer! Thank you to her and my parents for such a wonderful weekend.
