My Morning Bestie

Now that the boys are in school, us girls have the mornings to ourselves.
My cute little shadow loves the one on one time and is going to freak out in a week when she has to share me with her little sister.  In the meantime, I've been trying to give her the attention she wants/needs.  We usually hang in our pj's for a few hours while we bake goodies, or read books, or watch cartoons, or pick up the house.  She's really good at helping and is already too much like her Mommy when it comes to things being put away and tidy.  Which is good.  And bad.  She's really into making funny faces right now and I love it!  She makes me laugh everyday.
I sure love my little bestie friend.

Lucy's 1st Haircut

I've never given Lucy a haircut.  I've wanted to trim it up a few times, but her Daddy was having a hard time letting me take the scissors to it :)  I finally convinced him that she  needed a little bit of bangs and that I would barely trim up the back/sides/layers to make it a little more even.  She did great for the haircut and now her curls have even more bounce than before.  You can't tell from the pictures, because she's making her silly faces in all of them, but she didn't mind having it cut at all.

1st Day of School

Lincoln started 1st Grade this year.  He's had a hard time adjusting to being at school all day, but he's getting better with it.  He refuses to eat school lunch and insists on taking a home lunch every day.  I made him try school lunch for the first day (because I was sure he was going to end up loving it), and the next morning he got up and made his own home lunch completely by himself.  Turns out I was wrong.  He has a lot of kids from his kindergarten class in his class again and his teacher is great.  It's her first year teaching, ever, so I'm sure he's breaking her in the way only Lincoln can.

He made this all by himself with no prompting or help:
Chicken Nuggets (microwaved) and ketchup

carrots and apple slices (good thing we have an apple slicer)

Grant started kindergarten this year.  He was very excited to go to Lincoln's school and be a big boy.  He had to wait a week later than Lincoln to start, so when it was time to go, he was definitely ready!  He has a few kids from the neighborhood in his class and his teacher seems really nice.  He loves to come home and tell me what letter they worked on that day and anything new he did.  He'll start his speech therapy soon, but has made a lot of progress since this time last year.  Most people can understand him 75% of the time :)

August Pic Recap

Dave took the kids swimming while I watched.
Don't be alarmed by the floating bean on the right.

There they all are.

This little girl has become pretty attached
to her Daddy lately.

One last summer activity with cousin Kyler.
The boys love making/decorating sugar cookies.

She has some of the best facial expressions!

Dave has been working later than usual lately.
This was a Sunday morning after breakfast.
Obviously the kids have missed him.
A lot.

Steph, Zinna, Preggo, and Mom
at Country Explosion.
It was a great place to people watch.

Couch: Jace and Lincoln
Floor: Kyler and Grant
Cousin sleepover before school starts.

These 3 have played really well together this summer.
Lucy loves to do whatever the boys do.
The boys love that she likes playing with them.

The boy's first lesson in money and savings.
They really wanted this stuffed animal they found on amazon.
I told them they had to buy it with their own money.
Neither had enough saved for it, but together, they barely did.
They agreed to use all their money together and share it.

Last of our summer nights in the sandbox.

After Lincoln's second day of school,
he just wanted to snuggle with me on the couch.
Love my big cuddly 1st grader.

She loves this pretend kitchen.
We play with it a lot while waiting for her brothers
to come home from school.
