Grunt's Party

I told you I'd do a separate post about the Bean's party.  He's really into Sonic the Hedgehog right now and decided on a Sonic party.  I had a friend, Melanie (Mansfield) Starr, make his cake and she did an incredible job!  He loved it and it was kinda hard to cut into it to serve (but I'm really glad we did because it tasted awesome!). 

We played a few games, pin the ring on sonic and beat a pinata, sang happy birthday, opened presents, then let the kids run and run and run while eating popsicles.  Thanks Mom and Dad for letting us use your yard/driveway, again, for the party.  All in all it was a wonderful day and he had a fantastic party!

Easter 2012

Growing up, I spent a lot of my Easters at my great-grandparents house in Jerome, Idaho.  That will always be Easter to me.  It's still weird to celebrate Easter at home and not with Grandma and Grandpa White, even though they passed years ago.  I have very fond memories of the Easter holiday.  We've started some Vernal traditions for our kids, so that hopefully they will have fond memories too.  Vernal is the new Jerome :) 
We always go to the city egg hunt at the Naples park (and usually freeze) and then to Grammy & Papa's house to dye eggs.  The Easter Bunny hides the kid's baskets and some eggs in the house on Sunday morning and then we go to church.  After church it's back to Grammy & Papa's for our traditional dinner and the money egg hunt.  This year my parents let the adults in on the egg hunt fun and I think all the adults were more excited than any of the kids :)

My Athlete- part 2

Every now and again Dave does stuff for the local tv station, v-tv.  One of the things he did was interview Mark Mason, who is our neighbor, and in charge of the Dino-Tri.  Mark challenged Dave to participate in the tri this year and Dave accepted.  Mind you he didn't really know how to swim and had only ridden his mountain bike a handful of times in the past 2 years. 

He's been training like a madman and I've been so proud of him.  He doesn't realize what a natural athlete he is.  He picks stuff up so quickly and his body adaptes very easily.  As part of his training, he partipated in the Ice-Breaker Tri this past weekend.  It's basically a mini-tri and the first one, in Vernal, of the year.  It was a 250 meter swim in the pool, 8 mile bike ride and 3 mile run.  It was a great trial go for him and now he knows kind of what to expect/train harder for the dino-tri in June.  He did AMAZING, especially since he only started training about 6 weeks ago, and finshed in 1:07.  Great job Sweets!

My Athlete- part 1

Dave played 6 on 6 co-ed volleyball again this year.  He's really enjoyed being able to play at least once a year on an actual team and has gotten really good.  I love watching him play and am so proud of how well he does.  My Uncle Scott was on his team this year and it's so fun that they enjoy the same sport.  Their team ended up taking 2nd place (the only reason they didn't get 1st was because they had played 6 games in a row and were exhausted by the final game).  Great job team SDP!
